Affiliate Marketing Provides Big Spenders

Consumers who click on affiliate links spend more money than other Internet shoppers, according to a study from comScore Networks. Also, they are 17 percent more likely than the average Internet user to have yearly household incomes over $75,000.

This could be because the people who are most willing to jump to another site to buy something are the ones who have the most money to spend. They would view the links as a helpful convenience. People who cannot afford to buy much are more likely to consciously ignore ads unless they are looking to purchase that item now. This could vary by individual, but if you have extra money, you are more likely to buy whenever the opportunity presents itself. Therefore, merchants should consider their target audience’s discretionary income before deciding to work with an affiliate.
